ACC Scholarship for Emerging Conductors

jean_louis2The Airdrie Community Choir (ACC) has established the Airdrie Community Choir Scholarship for Emerging Conductors in the Department of Music, Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Calgary. The new scholarship will provide $500 per year to an undergraduate student in the second, third or fourth year of their degree who has shown an interest in pursuing a career in choral music or vocal performance.

The ACC has established this scholarship in honour of their 25th Anniversary season that begins September 14, 2009, and in recognition of the considerable contribution to the Choir’s development of past Artistic Director, Jean-Louis Bleau.

Jean-Louis, who is currently completing his Master of Music in Choral Conducting at the UofC, said of the new scholarship, “It is such an honour to be recognized in this way by the very people who taught and inspired me to continue to press forward with a career in music. I am so glad to see that the mentoring the choir provided to me as a musician will continue, through this scholarship, to help foster other people who are passionate about music.”
